The other day my best friend and Oshun Project member, Bivyanna, had to remind me about some of the original musings I had before starting The Oshun Project. The conversation came up because I had been experiencing some personal hardships which were taking my focus from our work in Camp-Perrin, Haiti and I was concerned that I was letting people down and not doing enough.
Bivyanna reminded me that I did not begin this work so that I could be doing everything by myself. She said, “When you started Oshun it was all about people helping people, not Akeisha doing everything and feeling tired and burned out.” Somehow along the way I forgot that, yet I am fortunate to have people surrounding me who continue to lift me up so that our community in Haiti is also lifted.
So, I wanted to honor and share some great words from incredible people who have fueled me to keep things going.
“You are a winner and there’s a light at the end of this tunnel. You believe me.” – Yves Perrin
“Thank you for our conversations about Oshun. It has really given me access to something. I am experiencing a different vitality and flow within myself.” Elizabeth Miler
“I am always here for you and I believe you in you. I will support you in whatever you are doing.” – Jennifer Joslin
“I wasn’t even sure that you would accomplish what you did in Haiti. It was always just my pleasure to witness what you were creating… You are that powerful.” – Clay Kilgore
“It’s been so fun working with you. I love doing stuff for Oshun!” – Melissa Mueller
“Keish, you got this.” – Bivyanna Green-Williams
“You have no idea that you already have what you want done.” – Leonard Futado
Those are just a few of words of encouragement I have heard. Thanks to everyone – you are light!
